Kid’s Day: Horseshoe Crabs
Aug 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Discover the life of this prehistoric creature up close and personal at the James Farm Ecological Preserve!
About this event
Learn about horseshoe crabs, why they make their way onto the beaches of the Inland Bays, and participate in a demonstration survey. This program dives into the ecology, anatomy, and benefits of horseshoe crabs using a lifelike model (and hopefully a living organism!). Participants will have the opportunity to explore the beach and the Preserve and hopefully find a living horseshoe crab!
This program will spend time in and around the water – clothes & shoes that can get wet/sandy are recommended. Closed-toe shoes are encouraged. Please bring water, sunscreen and insect repellant, if desired since the Preserve can be buggy.
Please note: Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian present at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
This program is weather permitting. Attendance is free and walk-ups are welcome. Questions? Contact Jackie Knoll at firstname.lastname@example.org
